EFFECT OF COVID-19 ON UNEMPLOYMENT IN INDIA

COVID-19 affected the country as whole and Unemployment is one of the biggest issue faced in India

As the release from CMIE (Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy) Average employment during 2019-20 was 404 million. Compared to the same average of 2019-20, the fall in April is a massive 30 per cent, which translates into a loss of 122 million jobs. This is huge setback for the people as the number of unemployment has increased massively.

This reflects that one in every five salaried employees seems to have lost jobs during the Lockdown, The small traders and wage labourers the most vulnerable parts of society have been hit due to covid-19 lockdown and lost approx. 91 million jobs just in a month which is a matter of deep concernfor the nation.

Nearly 35 % of Indian youth who possess graduate degree and above are already unemployed as stated in economic times in April 2019. As seen from above where millions of jobs are lost and a massive fall of 30% in employment it can be anticipated that youth is going to be widely hit by the covid-19 and lockdown and % of unemployed youth can be seen around 45% - 60%.

Possible outcome of this disastrous Covid-19

  • Youth will be highly effected due to the Covid-19

  • Increase in the number of unemployment and effect on economy

  • Trigger in the rate of various crimes

  • Damage to the health due to reduce in activity and increase in screen time

  • Sleep pattern are already fluctuating

  • Psychological disorder can be seen

This article is written by me to show my deep concern related to effect of Covid-19 on the children, youth and all who are effected due to it and a request to all my friends to join for the cause to reduce other impact
